I've searched through the past posts here and in the other vista groups, and have yet to see an 'answer'... I'm looking for a Vista compatible firewall. Everyone I've tried (Zone alarm, Kerio, a few others) say they're not compatible. Tiny installed, but I kept blue screening on reboot with a error once - that says my BIOS is not PC## something capable? (It rebooted too quick to see). Rebooted into last known good, uninstalled Tiny, and I'm back in business. Basically, I want to know when a program is phoning home and be able to deny the request.
Thanks.

Vista compatible Firewall
Have you tried the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security located under Control Panel > Administrative Tools? You can learn more about it here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/columns/cableguy/cg0106.mspx -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Andre posted this a while back, it appears to have a built in firewall.

You can use the Windows Advanced firewall but it does not look like its very user friendly

A pop-up when a program want to phone home, like in free firewalls that's compatible with XP. That's what i want. Not go in and manually edit in the built in firewall. If I accidently get a program in my computer it's not to supposed to get access to internet without my permisson.

Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0.2.xxx is in Beta (public) and is Vista compatible.
And by the way : Vista does a lot of homephoning general. But where it comes up to security : Vista phones home to 64.4.52.189 which is the Microsoft IP adress to do the "genuine" checks. - blocking it inbound/outbound has no side-effects but may save you from accidently be presented by "this copy of Windows is not genuine" nags whenever MS feels to do so.
