I'm running Symantec AntiVirus v 10.2 build 276, but any Microsoft Vista update should be compatible with any version of Symantec Antivirus. Also under the "firewall" the Norton firewall is still reported to be on although outdated. Even though outdated could it still affect these steps PA BEAR suggested below.

Password Problems
The reader is Vista compatible and has the latest software. I have spent several hours on the phone with Microsoft support and they cannot seem to get it to work. I have added exclusions for it in my NOD32 AV and I use the embedded Windows firewall. I disabled my AVG AntiSpy and Windows Defender.

Can't install any downloaded software
I've only just started evaluating this firewall and will appreciate your experience. After awhile I would notice that windows that opened up or closed much slower. This really affected me when I had FF or TB open or Windows Explorer mainly. Other than that the memory bleed, it does seem like a nice program.

Another possibility is the CA Firewall didn't uninstall properly. You could try installing it again and then uninstalling to see if that straightens it out (the vendor may provide a cleanup tool for removing leftover bits like the Norton Removal Tool).
